May '04 NEWS

May - Well, unfortunately I've been slack again and we have basically no worthwhile May news.

The sequential project is still waiting on us being able to find someone who is electronically minded enough to design a microprocessor to receive inputs from the car and trigger the sequential changeover at the best time. We're narrowing it down, so hopefully it won't be long.

In other news... hopefully I'll come to an agreement with my audio installers regarding a little redesign of my stereo system to incorporate the new Alpine 1507 into it. The idea is to put the 1507 where the two current amps are located (under the perspex), and "float" the two 409 amps above on the left and right of the 1507, suspended by chrome piping. At the same time, the boost and door panels will need fixing/repainting and the sub box in the boot needs to be sealed. That should give a nice increase in SPL volume.

I've been thinking about what to do with the interior... It's bugged me for a long time now, since I didn't really want to go stupid, since the car IS daily driven, and I don't want it to be a shocker to maintain. Cream/White seats, etc... now that would be annoying.

I'm planning on keeping to the dark/black interior theme, though the green lighting has annoyed me to no end for a long time now. Thanks to Fabio, I've acquired a set of bright blue LEDs, which are a total replacement for all lights in the dash. This should come up looking great, and I specifically wanted blue as they should fit in perfectly with the blue faced Empeg and Alpine head units. The kit goes as far as changing the Cig lighter light, the ignition light, and all the air conditioning lights to blue, as well as the speedo, tacho, fuel, clock, etc.

When the urge is there to pull the dash apart again, I'm sure this will be happening :)

Headlights. Have been slack with this... I'm planning on picking up the ball on this, and getting the headlights cleaned and the interior of them painted, then installing a HID kit. I'm sick of headlight bulbs blowing.

Not too much more happening on the car right now... as I said, I've been slack.

Incidentally, grats to Tris for running a 12.5 down the 1/4 mile, even with his car in a minor state of tune. Expect an 11 shortly. :)

In the Team WTF section of www.wtfauto.com there's a little graphic of Team WTF 1/4 mile times. Yes Mesmerize is still at 13.2, but I'm hoping that won't be for much longer... ;)

In the meantime, thanks for coming back to check on the page... I'll try to keep it updated more as we get some more work happening on the car.

Take care,

Jason
