- 12am - Merry Christmas everyone! Another small update. Not too
much to say here. Basically we've been screwing around with the dump
pipe, it's complete (minus a cleanup) and fits fine now. We named it
the Christmas Tree, since that's what Tris has bagsed it for if it
doesn't do its job right in the car. ;)
Anyways,
we've been fooling around modifying the exhaust to make it fit up to
the new dump pipe, and that's proven to be a big time waster since
every time we make a change and have to line it up to test it, we
have to put the entire system back together, check it, then pull it
out again. The muscles are getting sore, that's for sure! Last night
we pretty much perfected that, though, so hopefully it'll only need
a couple more fittings before we can bolt it in for good.
At
the moment we're looking at starting the car up on New Years Eve,
though as it's still without an intake system, we can't drive it.
With any luck I'll have a little video of it running minus intake
piping for you all soon.
So...
the pics!

The
rear window gets its own modifications over time...

We
had a Praying Mantis overseeing the work last night... Freaky!

The
"Christmas Tree" in all its glory!
Well,
here's hoping another update on New Year's Eve or just after brings
good news of a running Supra! :)
Take
it easy, and don't drink and drive on NYE!

- 1:30am. Yes, that's the time. :) I have lots of new pictures, and
am happy to report that the weekend's work went extremely well!
Sure, it was literally all weekend, but hey, we have to get it done!
Almost
the entire exhaust side of the system is completed and ready to
attach to the 4" exhaust. It's taken on a great change since
the last photos, and now is looking like the very complex and
intricate lump of metal it's meant to, rather than a couple of
turbos and a wastegate hanging off a "medusa", as someone
suggested we call the manifold.
The
pics... amusing comments supplied by Tristan.

"Dear
lord. I offer you this turbo kit as a sign of my faith... that my
Supra is gonna whoop yo momma's ASS!"

"No,
my name is not Jesus"

Tristan
busy welding the dump pipes. "Weldy weldy!"

"Grindy
Grindy!"

Front
shot of the system... Intake is still to come.

Side
shot of the system, look at those dump pipes and valves!

Higher
angled shot. You can see how it all hangs together well from here.

The
2 dump pipes and wastegate pipe merging towards the 4" exhaust.

A
shot of the workshop. Tristan's MR2 behind the very dusty Supra.
Notice the motor on the right? That'd be going in the MR2 soon,
along with another nice big turbo which is on the way. :)
So
as you can see, things are coming along well! Lots more work to do
over the next few days, but there's a great sense of anticipation in
the air as we're working, that the project is nearly done, and the
car is nearly ready to roll... Oh, and yes, you guessed it... I
can't keep the smile off my face. :)
Catch
ya,

- 10:30pm. The manifold is finished... finally! It now has the
wastegate and both turbos on, and is painted a nice shade of heat
resistant black. :)
Being
the major design and fabrication part of the project, it sure is
great to see it out of the way.
We
took the lot out of the car for a few photos, and I'm sure you're
going to like the little work of art. :)
I
know I do!
Will
keep you updated as we make the exhaust and intake side piping and
begin to put the car back together!
Now,
the photos...

Similar
to previous shots, but notice the turbo sits a little lower, and
there's a nice HKS GT Wastegate hiding over there in the back left
corner. :)

The
finished, black manifold sitting on the car!

Modern
Art?

This
shot really outlines the difference between the turbo sizes.

Top
down, again emphasising turbo differences.

One
of my favourite shots here, the exhaust side of the system...

Ok
so maybe we got a little trigger happy... but we spiced things up by
adding the clothes line in the background!

Bored
yet? (I'm not!)

Ok,
so maybe I am...
Till
next time, cyas!

- 10pm. Still plodding along on the upgrade! The manifold's been
ground out inside, knife-edged to promote better flow, and the
flanges will be welded on soon.
Current
photos...

In
other news... I finally got around to scanning and uploading the HPI
article on Mesmerize from ages ago (before lots of work...) Head
over to the RESULTS page to check it out.
:)
Will
be in touch soon with more news!
