- 10pm - Yes, more is coming. I know you guys have been bugging me
to update you! I've just had so much fun driving and stuff, that not
much work is happening!
I
have to clean up these news pages as they're becoming very scary to
load (for those of you with 56k modems). I'll get it sorted out over
the next week or so and do an update! :)
Hang
in there!

- 7pm - Oh yeah... ohhhh yeah.... Well, we knew it. As soon as we
had got the car running with no intake system, it would be
physically impossible for us to take much longer to get it driving.
Oh yeah, that's where we're at baby!
We've
forced the large turbo valve to stay open full time (making for some
rather loud idling) and set up a very small part of the overall
sequential control, in that at higher boost the small turbo flow is
restricted somewhat. The car runs, and drives, in synchronous mode.
Surprisingly well too, I have to say. We've set it to only 14psi
boost, and now I really understand what bad turbo lag really is
like! Trying to spool this 1100+hp flow worth of turbos at the same
time is just shocking! Even so, the car's incredibly driveable, and
boost comes on HARD after 4000RPM. The fuel efficiency is amazing,
I'd say it's currently going close to 1.5X more distance out of a
tank than back with the stock turbo system, and that's even with us
bumping up the fuel injection by 10% throughout the rev range! I
know this won't last once the sequential system and more boost is
in... ;)
It's
great having her back on the road after 3 months (to the day), and
unreal being able to cruise around. Acceleration is good fun, and
we'd guess that even with the turbo lag, the car will still run 13s.
It doesn't feel quite as quick as back on 1.2 bar with the stock
system, but it's very hard to tell because of the difference in
feeling between the nice linear stock turbo setup compared to the
slow then amazingly quick hit you get from the turbos once they
spool.
There's
a few niggly problems which we don't really need to fix, since we're
not wanting to keep it sync'd. Now I can drive the car daily, we can
move on to the MR2 and make sure that's going to be running well by
Motorvation too. Time permitting, we'll be putting more time into
implementing the sequential control system once the MR2 is done, in
order to get it all working well for Motorvation!
There's
a video in the works of me taking the car on one of its first test
runs, and I'll have it available for download shortly. You have to
understand by the look of me in the video that we were up all night
Saturday night, and didn't rest all of Sunday, as we were so hyped
up from getting the car driving!
Sorry
about the digital camera skills, too, Tristan was tired too! ;)
Vids
up soon...

The
intake system!

One
of the first shots of the car once the intake system was in. Early
Sunday morning...

Daylight,
about to take her for another testdrive...

Another
angle. mmm

Cleaned!
We cruised down to the DIY cleaner, and high pressure hosed her
down.

It
was so bright out there, it really hurt...

Finally,
back on the road.
So,
yay... will let you know as we work on the sequential system, as I
know it's going to be a LOT faster then... Take it easy!

- 8am - Great news! The car starts, minus intake system! Happy New
Years to you all. Tristan and I sacrificed New Years Eve
celebrations this year to continue working on the car, and it's
really paid off. Basically everything other than the intake system
is done now.
New
Years Eve was basically taken up by us getting the dump pipe finally
welded up fully and attached to the exhaust system, and making sure
that the exhaust isn't any lower than it used to be. Success! New
Year's Day consisted of us being so excited that we were so close
from the night before, that we decided that we weren't leaving till
it was running. This was a good and bad thing, as I had work the
next day, on Friday. Well, we finally did get the car running that
night, or technically, 4:15am on Friday the 2nd, at which point we
were both ecstatic and very tired. Tristan, myself and 3 close
friends got to watch her roar to life, and we fiddled with the
valves manually to show very clearly (since you can see the
compressor wheels spinning) how the sequential system's setup will
work. I have a video coming of this, which I'm sure many of you will
find rather interesting!
By
the time I got to bed it was 5:15am, and I had 2 hours sleep before
getting up and heading to work! Lucky there was like no one at work,
since most take the time off between Xmas and New Year. Whew.

finished dump pipe and turbo system.

The
entire exhaust side of the kit, including turbos.
Can't
wait to drive her again, that's for sure!!!!
It's
sounding NASTY!
